Manage operational crisis to maintain or restore power system integrity
Assessment tool
Version 1.0
Issue Date: May 2024
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to manage a crisis of a magnitude which affects the integrity and effectiveness of the power generation facility's system.
A crisis is defined as a significant threat to power generation operations that can have negative consequences if not handled with care. The risk managementsystem ensures that the power generation facility identifies, assesses and prioritises risks and manages the application of resources to monitor and control the impact of potentially hazardous events.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to identify a crisis, establish a contingency plan, establish communications, manage crisisdocuments and review the crisis and response. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator with responsibility for risk management, in a power generation facility.
Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Note: Workplace practice
The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence or training permit to practice in the workplace where work is carried out on gas and electrical installations. Additional conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements.
